Redland Rebels Won’t Run in Saturday’s G1 Curlin Florida Derby
HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – The 20-cent Rainbow 6 jackpot pool is expected to grow to an estimated $250,000 on Friday’s Curlin Florida Derby (G1) Eve program at Gulfstream Park.
The popular multi-race wager went unsolved Thursday for the fifth racing day in a row.
Friday’s Rainbow 6 sequence will span Races 5-10, headlined in Race 7 by a mile optional claiming allowance for 3-year-olds, in which Brad Cox-trained Cannoneer returns following a fourth-place finish in the 1 1/16-mile Holy Bull (G3). The son of Into Mischief, who was involved in a hotly contested pace before faltering in the stretch, is the 7-5 morning-line favorite for the cutback to one-turn competition.
Phillip Bauer-trained Lincoln’s Law will make his highly anticipated return from an eye-catching debut victory at Gulfstream Feb. 28 in Friday’s feature. The 3-year-old son of Liam’s Map recovered from an awkward start in a six-furlong maiden special weight to win going away by 2 ¼ lengths.
A mandatory payout of the 20-cent Rainbow 6 jackpot pool is scheduled for Sunday, closing day of the 2025-2026 Championship Meet. In the Rainbow 6, the jackpot pool is only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool. On mandatory payout days, the entire pool is disbursed to the bettor or bettors holding tickets with the most winners in the six-race sequence.
The Rainbow 6 Jackpot Pool is expected to grow to an estimated $2.5 million Sunday.
Note: Calypso Racing Stables LLC’s Redland Rebels will not run in Saturday’s $1 million Curlin Florida Derby (G1) at Gulfstream Park. The Patrick Biancone-trained son of Uncle Chuck, fourth in the Tampa Bay Derby (G3) last time out, was cross-entered in the Arkansas Derby (G1) and will run at Oaklawn Saturday.
Who’s Hot: Luis Saez rode a pair of winners, scoring aboard Marty’s Gal ($6) in Race 2 and Classy Lass ($5.60) in Race 6. Tyler Gaffalione doubled aboard American Women ($18.60) in Race 8 and Ditched ($8) in Race 10.
Trainer Jose D’Angelo was represented by two winners on Thursday’s card, Marty’s Gal ($6) in Race 2 and Don’t Do It Lucy ($12.20) in Race 7.
