Mandatory Payout of Rainbow 6 Jackpot Pool Saturday
Behold the King, Skipping Stars to Clash in Friday’s Pulpit

HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – The 20-cent Rainbow 6 jackpot pool is expected to grow to $275,000 Friday at Gulfstream Park, where the popular multi-race wager went unsolved Thursday on opening day of the 2025-2026 Championship Meet.

The Rainbow 6 had gone unsolved for the final nine racing days of the Sunshine Meet that closed Sunday following a Nov. 2 mandatory payout. Another mandatory payout for the six-race wager will be offered Saturday with a jackpot pool estimated at $2 million.

Friday’s Rainbow 6 sequence will span Races 4-9, featuring the $100,000 Pulpit in Race 9. Mark Casse-trained Behold the King and Jose D’Angelo-trained Skipping Stars, who finished 1-2 in the Nov. 1 Armed Forces, will clash again in Friday’s featured 7 ½-furlong turf stakes for 2-year-olds.

Behold the King, who has been no worse than second in five career races, stalked the pace in the mile Armed Forces before prevailing by a half-length over Skipping Stars, who has set a pressured pace before settling for second. D’Angelo will also be represented by recent graduate Uncle Aldo and Bronze Bullet, a debut winner coming off a troubled second-place finish. Todd Pletcher-trained Sunrise, a Saratoga graduate who returns from a troubled trip in the Laurel Futurity; Nolan Ramsey-trained Shipmate, a runaway maiden winner last time out; are also entered.

In the Rainbow 6 the jackpot pool is only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.

Who’s Hot: Trainer Brian Lynch saddled a pair of winners on the opening day program of the 2025-2026 Championship Meet Thursday, including Sister Troienne ($3.40), who captured the $100,000 Wait a While in Race 9, and Moon Spun ($10.40), who won Race 5 off a 13-month layoff.

Jockey Emisael Jaramillo got off to a fast start for the 2025-2026 Championship Meet by riding back-to-back winners, guiding Insolenta ($8.40) and Vindicate Cha Cha ($8.60) to front-running victories in Race 6 and Race 7, respectively.
