HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – The post-position draw for the $1 million Curlin Florida Derby (G1) will go live Saturday in the Gulfstream Park winner’s circle following the fourth race.

Racing fans will be able to watch the draw for the March 29 tradition-rich 1 1/8-mile Triple Crown prep in person or via livestream at gulfstreampark.com.

Godolphin LLC’s Sovereignty, who captured the March 1 Coolmore Fountain of Youth (G2) with a last-to-first surge, is scheduled to return in the 74th running of Curlin Florida Derby on the Road to the Kentucky Derby.

Trained by Hall of Famer Bill Mott, the homebred son of Into Mischief was making his 2025 debut in the Coolmore Fountain of Youth after closing out his juvenile campaign with a last-to-first score in the Street Sense (G3) at Churchill Downs.

Hall of Fame trainer Todd Pletcher is expected to seek a record-extending ninth Curlin Florida Derby win with Disruptor, a sharp maiden winner on the Coolmore Fountain of Youth undercard. Two-time defending Championship Meet training titlist Saffie Joseph Jr. is slated to enter Neoequos, the Coolmore Fountain of Youth third-place finisher. Trainer Brad Cox is scheduled to enter Tappan Street, the Holy Bull (G3) runner-up.

The Curlin Florida Derby will offer Kentucky Derby qualifying points on a 100-50-25-15-10 scale to its top five finishers, respectively.

Rainbow 6 Jackpot Hit Friday for $121,198 Payoff

The 20-cent Rainbow 6 was solved by one lucky bettor for a $121,198.50 jackpot payout Friday at Gulfstream Park.

Goodbetterbest ($12.20) captured the Race 9 finale to complete the winning 1-7-1-11-6-5 combination. The popular multi-race wager was last hit for a $28,442 mandatory payout March 16.

Other winners in the sequence were Oshala ($53) in Race 4, World Traveler ($2.80) in Race 5, Pop Rox ($40.60) in Race 6, Rhum Saint Esprit ($5.80) in Race 7 and Amor Y Control ($13.40) in Race 8.

In the Rainbow 6, the jackpot pool is only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.

The Rainbow 6 begins anew on Saturday’s 11-race program that begins at 12:50 p.m. The sequence spans Races 6-11 and is highlighted by the 11th running of the $115,000 Texas Glitter for 3-year-olds sprinting five furlongs on the grass in Race 7.

Amor Y Control Notches 7th Consecutive Victory

Ross McCalla’s Amor Y Control notched her seventh first-place finish in a row in Friday’s Race 8, a five furlong starter optional claiming event on Tapeta, at Gulfstream Park.

The 7-year-old mare’s streak was tarnished a bit when the 7-year-old all-weather specialist was disqualified from her fourth straight first place finish and placed second Dec. 28.

Amor Y Control, who was forwardly placed before taking command in mid-stretch, has been ridden in all seven races by Joseph Trejos.

“She always feels a connection with me, and I feel a connection with her,” Trejos said. “She’s such a good filly because you can ride in back or in front. She waits for me. We have a strong connection.”

Amor Y Control started her streak in $10,000 claiming company for former trainer Matthew Ciamei before he sent the daughter of War Dancer to current trainer Elizabeth Dobles after getting out of the training business.

Amor Y Control has won nine races and has finished in the money in 17 of 19 races on Tapeta. She finished third in her only dirt start.

Il Miracolo Breezes for G1 Dubai World Cup

Alexandres Investments LLC’s Il Miracolo tuned up for a scheduled start in the $12 million Dubai World Cup (G1) with a sharp five-furlong breeze Saturday morning at Gulfstream Park.

The Grade 1 stakes-placed 5-year-old son of Gun Runner completed the workout on even terms with Il Siciliano, a 3-year-old stablemate, both timed in 1:00.13, the fastest clockings of five recorded at the distance.

“It was a good workout, a minute flat with a six-furlong gallop-out in 1:12.3,” trainer Antonio Sano said. “He’ll leave tomorrow morning.”

Hall of Fame jockey John Velazquez was aboard for the breeze and has the mount on Il Miracolo, who hasn’t seen action in the afternoons since finishing off the board in the Pacific Classic (G1) at Del Mar in August.

Il Miracolo, who captured the Ghostzapper (G3) at Gulfstream last season, was originally penciled in to compete in the Godolphin Mile (G1) on the Dubai World Cup undercard at Meydan Racecourse April 5 before receiving an invitation for the 1 ¼-mile headliner.

“I was training my horse for the mile. The people at the Dubai World Cup called the owner to say, ‘You have an invitation for the World Cup,’” Sano said. “I’ve had to change my preparation for the race. Johnny, who worked the horse this morning, said, ‘The horse is 100-percent right.’”

At Palm Meadows, Ian Wilkes-trained Burnham Square, who won the Holy Bull (G3) before finishing fourth in the Coolmore Fountain of Youth (G2), breezed five furlongs in 1:00.70 (3/11) in preparation for a scheduled start in the April 5 Blue Grass (G1) at Keeneland.

Who’s Hot: Paco Lopez rode a pair of winners, scoring aboard World Traveler ($2.80) in Race 5 and Rhum Saint Esprit ($5.80) in Race 7. Joseph Trejos also doubled aboard Amor Y Control ($13.40) in the Race 8 feature and Oshala ($53) in Race 4.
