Gulfstream, Woodbine Partner for Friday’s Summer Sweep Pick 5

Sequence Opens with Debut of Half Sister to G1 Winner in Race 6

HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – Gulfstream Park will partner with Woodbine for Friday’s $1 Gulfstream Summer Sweep Pick 5 as the 2026 Sunshine Meet gets underway with a nine-race program that will mark the debut of Epic Reay, a half sister to Grade 1 winner A Mo Reay.

Friday’s sequence for the player-friendly Gulfstream Summer Sweep Pick 5, a retail-only wager with a 15-percent takeout, will open with Race 6, a six-furlong maiden special weight event for 2-year-old fillies in which Mathis Stables LLC and Zilla Racing Stable’s Epic Reay is slated to make her debut for trainer Saffie Joseph Jr. The daughter of Epicenter is out of Margaret Reay, the dam of multiple graded-stakes winning A Mo Reay, a daughter of Uncle Mo who captured the 2023 Beholder Mile (G1) at Del Mar.

Epic Reay, the 2-1 morning-line favorite in a field of seven, has been training forwardly at Palm Meadows, Gulfstream’s satellite training center in Palm Beach County. Breeze Easy LLC and Joseph’s Makeitlookez, a daughter of Curlin’s Honor who is also training at Palm Meadows, is also scheduled to debut in Race 6. Armando De La Cerda-trained Early Spark moves to the main track after showing some promise on Tapeta and turf in her first two starts. Victor Barboza Jr.-trained Dama Du Sucre makes her return from a steady third-place finish in her debut.

The Summer Sweep Pick 5 action continues with Woodbine’s Race 5, a 1 1/16-mile $7500 claiming race for 3-year-olds and up on Tapeta that drew an evenly matched field of eight, and Gulfstream’s Race 7, a mile starter allowance for 3-year-olds on turf in which Joe Orseno-trained Justin Smiles, a steady-running son of The Big Beast, is the 9-5 morning-line favorite who has run well against better in recent starts. Barboza Jr.-trained Enchanting Tale moves to turf following a pair of strong efforts on Tapeta.

Woodbine’s Race 7, a 6 1/2-furlong $10,000 maiden claimer for fillies and mares on Tapeta, drew a balanced field of eight for the penultimate leg of the Summer Sweep Pick 5.

Gulfstream’s Race 8, a mile-and-70-yard $10,000 claiming race for 3-year-olds and up on Tapeta, closes out the Sumer Sweep Pick 5 sequence. Trainer Nick Tomlinson is represented by Magneto and Finest Gamble, rated first and second on the morning line at 5-2 and 3-1, respectively. Magneto finished a close-up second at Friday’s level in his first start for Tomlinson last time out. Finest Gamble will make his first start for Tomlinson off the claim out of a runner-up finish.

The Summer Sweep Pick 5 will get underway at 3:06 p.m. with Gulfstream’s Race 6 and wrap up with a 4:12 p.m. post time for Gulfstream’s Race 8.

Gulfstream will partner with Kentucky Downs for the Summer Sweep Pick 5 Saturday and Sunday.

Friday’s 20-cent Rainbow 6 starts anew Friday following Monday’s mandatory payout on the final day of the Royal Palm Meet. The Rainbow 6 sequence will span Races 4-9 on the Sunshine Meet’s opening day program.
