Thursday, Nov. 27 Thanksgiving Day

It’s Opening Day of Gulfstream Park’s Championship Meet and it’s Thanksgiving. It’s the start of the winter season featuring the top horses, jockeys and trainers. Trainer Saffie Joseph Jr. will attempt to win his fifth consecutive training title while Irad Ortiz Jr. will be attempting to earn his fourth consecutive riding title. The Opening Day feature is the $100,000 Wait a While for 2-year-old fillies over Gulfstream’s 7 ½ furlong turf course.

First race post time for Opening Day will be 11:15 a.m.

Ten Palms Restaurant, overlooking Gulfstream, is offering an upscale Thanksgiving buffet with all the trimmings for $65 per person. For more information click here.

The nine-race program will be highlighted by the $100,000 Pulpit for 2-year-olds over Gulfstream’s 7 ½ furlong turf course.

First race post is 12:20 p.m.

Saturday, Nov. 29

The first Saturday of the Championship Meet wraps up the lucrative Florida Sire Stakes series with the $300,000 In Reality and $300,000 My Dear Girl.

After setting a track record by winning the Florida Sire Stakes Susan’s Girl division by 12 ¾ lengths, Arindel’s Mythical will try to stretch her speed around two turns for the first time in the My Dear Girl. Jose D’Angelo sends out two of the favorites in the In Reality in Khozalite and Prost. The Town comes in for trainer Brad Cox.

The 20-cent Rainbow 6 will have a mandatory payout today. If the popular wager isn’t hit Thursday or Friday, the estimated pool will be $2 million.

1/ST BET will offer a unique incentive for all customers. If you make at least a $10 win bet on the In Reality or My Dear Girl, you will get your cash back if your win bet finishes second or third.

Sunday, Nov. 30

The first week of the Championship Meet concludes with a 10-race program beginning at 12:20 p.m. and featuring the $100,000 Islamorada. The program also includes three maiden special weight events, two on the turf.
