
Gulfstream’s Christmas Eve Rainbow 6 Pool Estimated at $75,000

HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – Gulfstream Park’s 20-cent Rainbow 6 will have an estimated pool of $75,000 when racing resumes Wednesday, Christmas Eve, with a nine-race program featuring the $125,000 Via Borghese at 1 3/8 miles on the turf.
First race post is 12:20 ET. The Rainbow 6 begins with Race 4 at approximately 1:50 ET.
Gulfstream will be dark Dec. 25, Christmas Day. The weekend schedule begins Friday, Dec. 26 with four stakes scheduled Friday and Saturday.
The Rainbow 6 sequence Christmas Eve kicks off with 2-year-old fillies going a mile and 70 yards on the Tapeta. Race 5 will be an allowance optional claimer at five furlongs on the turf. Lindy Farm’s Shade of Jade is the 7-5 morning-line favorite. The 3-year-old filly broke her maiden Oct. 24 in her fourth attempt. Irad Ortiz Jr. is named to ride the $200,000 daughter of Munnings who has never been off the board. Zazzy makes her first U.S. start for trainer Saffie Joseph Jr. after winning nine of 16 starts in Barbados.
The Via Borghese concludes the program with a field of eight including 2-1 favorite Alluring Angel, who enters off a victory Nov. 8 in the Long Island (G3) at Aqueduct. Bill Mott trains and Junior Alvarado rides. Defending champion La Mehana goes out for trainer Brad Cox. After winning the Via Borghese last December the 6-year-old mare and was third in three consecutive starts over the course– the La Prevoyante, The Very One and Orchid. Irad Ortiz Jr. has the ride.
