Rainbow 6 Jackpot Pool Estimated at $100,000
Owner/Trainer Jose Castro Wins Three Friday
HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – The 20-cent Rainbow 6 jackpot pool is expected to grow to an estimated $100,000 Saturday at Gulfstream Park, where the $75,000 Leinster Hollywood Beach will headline the six-race sequence spanning Races 6-11.
Carded as Race 9, the Hollywood Beach, a five-furlong dash for 2-year-olds on turf, attracted a deep nine-horse field featuring multiple-stakes winner Lennilu and speedy stakes-placed Monster.
Patrick Biancone-trained Lennilu, who won the $100,000 Desert Vixen on dirt last time out, captured the $100,000 Royal Palm Juvenile Fillies on turf May 10 at Gulfstream before finishing third in the Queen Mary (G2) at Royal Ascot.
Jose D’Angelo-trained Monster graduated by nine lengths in front-running fashion in his first turf start at Gulfstream before coming up a little short while finishing second in the Skidmore at Saratoga last time out.
Nolan Ramsey-trained Win N Juice, who finished second to undefeated Hey Nay Nay two races back in the Tyro at Monmouth; Biancone-trained Squire, who finished second in the Royal Palm Juvenile; and Kevn McKathan-trained The Princess Bro, an impressive debut winner at five furlongs on turf, are also entered in the Hollywood Beach.
The Rainbow 6 carryover pool is only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool usually goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool. On mandatory-payout days, the entire Rainbow 6 jackpot pool is paid out to the bettor or bettors with the most winners in the wager’s six-race sequence.
The Hollywood Beach will also be featured in Saturday’s 1/ST Sunset Six, a $1 minimum-base wager that links the final three races at Gulfstream and the last three races at Santa Anita.
The Hollywood Beach will kick off the Sunset Six in Race 9 at Gulfstream, followed by Races 10 and 11, before the new wager’s sequence shifts to Santa Anita for Races 8, 9 and 10.
Should no tickets with all six winners be sold, there will be a carryover to the next day that Gulfstream and Santa Anita both run with no consolation payoff.
