HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – Jockey Taylor Kingsley rode her first winner in a professional race Saturday at Gulfstream Park, scoring aboard Princetown ($32.20) in the Race 9 feature.
Kingsley brought a wealth of experience on horseback into the entry-level optional claiming allowance for 3-year-olds and up at a mile, in which she guided the 4-year-old son of Speightstown to a front-running 2 ½-length triumph. Hall of Fame trainer Bill Mott trains the winner.
The 19-year-old 10-pound apprentice has won an amateur race in each of the past two years in Fegentri Federation amateur riding races in the U.S. and has ridden in 11 countries and winning in eight of countries.
“I’m lost for words. I’m grateful to Bill Mott. This is huge,” said the daughter of highly respected steeplechase trainer Arch Kingsley, who was in attendance for the special occasion with family members.”
Kingsley has been working for Mott at Payson Park during the winter and early spring.
“It’s been a huge opportunity. I actually can’t believe it,” she said.
Kingsley isn’t planning on continuing to ride during the Royal Palm Meet for long.
“I’m going wherever Bill Mott goes,” she said. “Wherever he sends me, I’m going.”
