Jockeys Camacho, Herrera Tied in Royal Palm Meet Standings

HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – The 20-cent Rainbow 6 went unsolved for the second racing day following a mandatory payout Sunday at Gulfstream Park, making for added excitement surrounding ‘Mandatory Monday.’

The jackpot pool for the popular multi-race wager is expected to grow to an estimated $400,000 for Monday’s mandatory payout.

Monday’s sequence for the Rainbow 6 will span Races 4-9.

Ghostlight will make a bid to go back-to-back since joining the barn of leading trainer Saffie Joseph Jr. while coming off a three-month layoff in Race 4, a 5 1/2-furlong $17,500 claimer for fillies and mares on Tapeta. The 3-year-old daughter of Ghostzapper returned from a two-month layoff to graduate by four lengths in a $12,500 maiden claimer in her first start for Joseph. Joel Santiano-trained Mo Java moves outside after just missing from the rail post position at Monday’s level.

Joseph is represented by a pair of 3-year-old fillies in a highly competitive field of $35,000 maiden claimers in Race 5, a five-furlong sprint for fillies and mares on turf. Exquisite drops out of a close-up runner-up finish in a maiden special weight in her turf debut. Stablemate Come On Teesha makes her career debut coming off a bullet workout at Palm Meadows. Victor Barboza Jr. is also represented by a pair of 3-year-old fillies – The Coromoto, who was nosed out while finishing second last time, and Modo Leyenda, who drops in for a tag after getting away slowly in back-to-back maiden special weight races. David Fawkes-trained Winning Defense finished third, three lengths behind Exquisite after a rather troubled trip last time.

A full field of evenly matched $10,000 claimers has been assembled for Race 6, a mile-and-70-yard race for 3-year-olds and up on Tapeta that will likely be a popular ‘spread’ leg.

Rohan Crichton-trained Test Factor makes his second start off a four-month layoff in Race 7, a five furlong optional claiming allowance for 3-year-olds and up on turf, after turning in a solid effort against slightly tougher, Hot riding apprentice Pedro Peno jumps aboard. Carlos David-trained Banded Rocket is eligible to improve on a third-place finish compromised by a slow start last time out.

Joe Orseno-trained Grim Reaper drops in for a tag in Race 8, a seven-furlong $12,500-$10,000 claimer for 3-year-olds and up, after holding his own against better in recent starts. Jose Castro-trained Tshiebwe looks to go back-to-back at Monday’s level while coming off a three-month layoff. Dune Road will make his first start off by claim by Jose D’Angelo coming off a solid third-place finish at Monday’s level.

Race 9, a challenging 1 1/16-mile $17,500 claimer for fillies and mares on turf, wraps up the Rainbow 6 sequence. Vanish will make her first start for trainer Saffie Joseph Jr., who has a 28-percent success rate with horses making their first starts for him. Blinkers come off. Take Dat make her first start off the claim by Carlos David, who wins at a 29-percent clip off the claim. Blinkers on. Larry Sterling Jr.-trained Getaholdayourself seems well-placed on the outside to follow up a solid maiden score despite a slow start.

In the Rainbow 6, the jackpot pool is paid out only when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool. On mandatory payout days, the entire pool is disbursed to the bettor or bettors holding tickets with the most winners in the six-race sequence.

A mandatory payout of the 20-cent Rainbow 6 jackpot pool will be offered next Monday, Aug. 31, the final day of the Royal Palm Meet.

The 2026 Sunshine Meet will get underway Friday, Sept. 4. Live Racing will continue four days a week, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Gulfstream, Horseshoe Indianapolis Partner for Summer Sweep Pick 5

Gulfstream Park and Horseshoe Indianapolis will partner for Monday’s $1 Gulfstream Summer Sweep Pick 5, which will have a carryover of $5,700.

The player-friendly, retail-only multi-race wager with a 15-percent takeout will be kicked off by Gulfstream’s Race 6, followed by Race 3 at Horseshoe Indianapolis and Race 7 at Gulfstream. The sequence is closed out by Race 4 at Horseshoe Indianapolis and Race 8 at Gulfstream Park.

The Summer Sweep will kick off at 2:54 p.m. and wrap up at 3:54 p.m.

Camacho, Herrera Tied at Top of Royal Palm Meet Standings

With four racing days remaining in the Royal Palm Meet, jockeys Samy Camacho and Diego Herrera are tied atop the jockey standings, 81-81.

Camacho scored aboard David Fawkes-trained Uncaptured Dove ($6) in Sunday’s Race 4 to pull within one win of Herrera, who started the day with a tenuous 81-79 lead. Camacho came back to win aboard Ez Orb Not ($5.20) in Race 8 to pull into a tie with Herrera at the top of the Royal Palm Meet standings. Camacho enjoyed a three-win day Saturday in the absence of Herrera, who was at Del Mar to ride British Isles in the $1 million Pacific Classic (G1)..

Herrera has six mounts Monday, while Camacho is scheduled to ride in two races.
