Mandatory Payout of Rainbow 6 Jackpot Pool Set for Monday at Gulfstream

HALLANDALE BEACH, FL - A mandatory payout of the 20-cent Rainbow 6 jackpot pool will be offered Monday at Gulfstream Park, where the popular multi-race wager went unsolved Sunday for the second racing day following a mandatory payout last Monday.

The jackpot pool is expected to grow to an estimated $400,000.

Monday’s Rainbow 6 sequence will span Races 3-8. A small but very competitive field of six will contest Race 3, a 1 1/16-mile starter allowance for 3-year-olds on Tapeta. Saffie Joseph Jr.-trained I’m Sam, the 8-5 favorite, drops back to the level where he finished a solid second. Ramon Minguet-trained Advanced is back on Tapeta, where he broke his maiden two starts back prior to offering a gutsy runner-up performance on turf.

In Race 4, a six-furlong starter allowance for 3-year-olds and up, Andrea Puckett-trained To the Eastside takes a drop in class where he should be tough to beat following a pair of stakes attempts. Mish will make his first start for trainer Dan Hurtak after being claimed out of his 13th career victory. Neshume makes his first start off the claim for trainer David Fawkes, who has a 45-percent off-the-claim strike rate.

An evenly matched field of older horses has been assembled for Race 6, a 1 1/16-mile $10,000 claimer on Tapeta. Pedro Garcia Jr.-trained Navy Cross is the 9-5 morning-line favorite after holding on gamely to finish a close-up second after setting a pressured pace. Promising apprentice hops aboard Carlos David-trained Space Launch, who rallied for third, a length back, after swinging seven-wide into the stretch.

The ultra-consistent Victor Barboza Jr.-trained Heir to the Roar, who has won two of her last three, is the 2-1 morning-line favorite for Race 6, a five-furlong optional claiming allowance on turf for fillies and mares. Laila Bella Girl, a brave winner against state-breds, will try to repeat against open company.

Pure Class steps up for Race 7, a 6 1/2-furlong optional claiming allowance for 3-year-olds and up, after winning twice and losing a stakes by a neck in his three starts since being claimed by Fawkes. Saffie Joseph Jr.-trained Guns Loaded turned in a sharp breeze since finishing an even fourth in his first start for Joseph in the Smile Sprint.

Fawkes appears to have another ‘live’ runner in Cash Bonus for Race 8, a 1 1/16-mile maiden special weight on turf. The son of Goldencents, formerly trained by Cherie DeVaux, finished an even third in his first start since being transferred to Fawkes. Stan Theman Musial, 0-for-2 in California for trainer Michael McCarthy, will make his first start for Joseph with blinkers off. Jimmy Toner-trained Citizen of London will debut after turning in some promising workouts at Palm Meadows.

In the Rainbow 6, the jackpot pool is paid out only when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.

On mandatory payout days, the entire pool is disbursed to the bettor or bettors holding tickets with the most winners in the six-race sequence.
