HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – A mandatory payout of the 20-cent Rainbow 6 jackpot pool yielded multiple payoffs of $12,403.04 on the seventh of eight consecutive Monday programs at Gulfstream Park.

Four Tags Stable’s 5-year-old mare Take Dat ($11.80) rallied to take the Race 9 finale, a 1 1/16-mile turf claimer for fillies and mares 3 and up, to complete the winning 5-2-3-4-1-6 combination.

Other winners in the sequence were Windrush ($27.60) in Race 4, first-time starter Come On Teesha ($16.80) in Race 5, Navy Cross ($5) in Race 6, Sabian ($6.80) in Race 7 and Carambaso ($8.80) in Race 8.

A total of $443,091 was bet into the Rainbow 6 Monday on top of a $23,354.81 carryover from Sunday’s program, for a grand total of $466,446.

In the Rainbow 6, the jackpot pool is paid out only when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.

On mandatory payout days, the entire pool is disbursed to the bettor or bettors holding tickets with the most winners in the six-race sequence.

The Rainbow 6 has produced multiple mandatory payouts of $48,609.94 July 13, $5,084.66 July 20, $406.32 July 27, $195.42 Aug. 3, $7,639.26 Aug. 10 and $283.78 Aug. 17. Mandatory payouts continue every Monday at Gulfstream through the Aug. 31 conclusion of the Royal Palm Meet.

Live racing resumes Saturday at Gulfstream with a 10-race program starting at 12:20 p.m. that includes the $100,000 Benny the Bull Handicap for 3-year-olds and up sprinting seven furlongs on the main track in Race 8 and $100,000 Bear’s Den for 3-year-olds scheduled at a two-turn mile on the grass in Race 9.

Monday’s 50-cent Late Pick 5 (Races 5-9) returned $1,825.65. There were payouts of $216.60 in the $1 Players Place Pick 8 (Races 2-9), $303.30 in the $3 Late Pick 3 (Races 7-9), $143.50 in the $5 Late Double (Races 8-9) and $2,187.70 in the $1 Summer Sweep Pick 5 featuring Races 6, 7 and 8 from Gulfstream and Races 3 and 4 from Horseshoe Indiana.

De La Cruz Notches First Training Win Monday at Gulfstream

Fernando De La Cruz notched his first win as a trainer Monday at Gulfstream Park, where he saddled Smart Lisa ($10.80) for a 2 3/4-length victory in Race 2, a mile $17,500 maiden claiming race for fillies and mares on turf.

De La Cruz, who galloped and worked as an assistant for veteran South Florida trainer Steve Dwoskin, made it to the Gulfstream winner’s circle with his ninth starter.

“I’m very happy. My friend, Steve Dwoskin, trusted me and partnered with me and gave me this filly,” said De La Cruz, who has also ponied horses at Gulfstream. “I worked hard with the filly and you see what happened today.”

Smart Lisa, a 4-year-old daughter of Audible owned by Juventud Stable and formerly trained by Dwoskin, graduated in her ninth career start. Reserved off a pace contested by her three rivals, Smart Lisa made a three-wide sweep to the lead entering the stretch and pulled away under apprentice Carlos Martinez.

Notes: With a win aboard Sabian ($6.80) in Race 7 Monday, his sixth victory of the weekend, Samy Camacho took an 82-81 lead over Diego Herrera in the Royal Palm Meet jockey standings … Herrera tied it back up in Race 8 on Carambaso ($8.80).
