Leonel Reyes Rides Three Winners to Up Sunshine Meet Lead

HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – A mandatory payout of the 20-cent Rainbow 6 jackpot pool yielded multiple payoffs of $3,501.22 Sunday at Gulfstream Park.

The popular multi-race wager had gone unsolved for three racing days following a $90,495.60 jackpot hit, leaving a $25,324.26 carryover going into Sunday’s mandatory payout. The jackpot pool swelled to $338,582 after wagering.

There were 78 winning tickets.

The winning tickets included the 4-2-5-5-8-1 combination. Sneak Preview ($10.20) won the opening leg of the sequence that spanned Races 4-9, followed into the Gulfstream winner’s circle by Uriel’s Decree ($7.20), Somerset Mia ($6.20), Zevi’s Zone ($8.40), Alinao Forever ($22.80) and Redland Rebels ($3.20).

In the Rainbow 6, the jackpot pool is paid out only when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool. On mandatory payout days, the entire pool is disbursed to the bettor or bettors holding tickets with the most winners in the six-race sequence.

The Rainbow 6 will start anew when live racing resumes Friday with a strong nine-race program. The bet-a-little-win-a lot wager will span Races 4-9, featuring a well-stocked five-furlong maiden special weight for 2-year-old fillies on turf in Race 5. Saffie Joseph Jr.-trained Rhett Dreams, a daughter of Jack Christopher who solid for $260,000 at the OBS June sale, will seek to rebound from a tough-trip debut at Kentucky Downs/

Joseph-trained Barakah, a son of Speightstown, is scheduled to make his first start since debuting with an off-the-pace victory on Tapeta March 29 in Friday’s Race 8 feature, a 6 1/2-furlong optional claiming allowance for 3-year-olds and up on the all-weather surface. Casse will be represented by Ocala Gala, a daughter of Code of Honor who returns to Tapeta, over which she graduated prior to a trio of even efforts on turf.
