Mandatory Rainbow 6 Payout Yields Multiple $5,172 Payoffs
6/28/2026Back on Turf Friday with 4 Races on Freshly Renovated Course
HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – A mandatory payout of the 20-cent Rainbow 6 jackpot pool resulted in multiple $5,172.16 payoffs Sunday at Gulfstream Park.
The popular multi-race wager had gone unsolved for the two racing days that followed a June 21 mandatory payout that yielded multiple $41,598 payoffs, leaving a $17,264 carryover going into Sunday’s mandatory. A total of $273,898 was wagered on the Rainbow 6 Sunday, producing a total pool of $291,162.
The winning combination was 4-1-5-6-5-8. There were 46 winning tickets.
In the Rainbow 6, the jackpot pool is only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners while 30 percent is carried over .to the jackpot pool. On mandatory payout days, the entire pool is disbursed to the bettor or bettors holding tickets with the most winners in the six-race sequence.
The Rainbow 6 will start anew when live racing resumes Friday with a nine-race program. The Rainbow 6 sequence will span Races 4-9, featuring the $100,000 Sharp Susan in Race 6 and the $70,000 Wildcat Red Handicap in Race 8.
Trainer Carlos David will be represented by a pair of impressive debut winners in the Sharp Susan, a 5 ½-furlong stakes for 2-year-old fillies, Hot Rod Honey, who closely attended the pace before drawing off to win by 1 ¼ lengths at five furlongs; and Boots, who pressed the early pace before pulling away to a 3 ¼-length score at 4 ½ furlongs.
An evenly matched field of 10 3-year-olds and up has been assembled for the Wildcat Red, a one-turn-mile overnight handicap that will be regarded as a ‘spread’ race by many Rainbow 6 bettors. Bobby Dibona-trained Steal Sunshine and Jose Castro-trained Lightning Tones are co-highweights at 123 pounds.
NOTES: Turf racing returns to Gulfstream Park Friday when four races will be conducted over the freshly renovated course, including a five-furlong allowance for Florida-bred fillies and mares in Race 7.
Jockey Samy Camacho rode three winners on Sunday’s program: My Precious Lady ($5.20) in Race 1, New Life ($3.40) in Race 3, and Mithril ($6.40) in Race 5.
Diego Herrera doubled aboard Hayden Remembered ($3.60) and Giant Teddy ($4.20) in Race 7 to maintain a two-win lead over Camacho, 62-60, in the jockey standings for the Royal Palm Meet.
Edgar Perez made two visits to the winner’s circle aboard Modern Beauty ($3.60) in Race 2 and Advanced ($23.80) in Race 9.
Trainer Victor Barboza Jr. scored back-to-back with Modern Beauty ($3.60) in Race 2 and New Life ($3.40) in Race 3.
