Monday’s Mandatory Rainbow 6 Includes $100,000 In Summation

HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – The $100,000 In Summation, a six-furlong stakes for 2-year-old Florida-breds, highlights an eight-race program Monday at Gulfstream Park that includes a mandatory payout of the 20-cent Rainbow 6 estimated at $400,000 and a Summer Sweep Pick 5 with two races from Fort Erie.

The In Summation drew a field of six in which every horse won his last start.

The $1 Summer Sweep Pick 5, which kicks off with the In Summation, features a 15-percent takeout and is retail only. The Rainbow 6 will begin with Race 3, a maiden claiming event at a mile and 70 yards on Tapeta that drew a field of eight. The sequence also includes the In Summation.

Gulfstream’s Rainbow 6 Sequence:

Race 3: A field of eight 3-year-olds and up go two turns on the Tapeta and Workinclasskid is 2-1 on the morning line as he drops from a $25,000 claimer to a $12,500. Diego Herrera is named to ride. Flying Chief, a 4-year-old son of Gunnevera, makes his debut for Kent Sweezey. Jose Morales gets the mount. Holy Cow drops in class for Bruno Tessore.

Race 4: A seven-horse field of $10,000 claimers are scheduled for a mile on the main track. Trainer Nicholas Palmer saddles the 7-5 favorite in Spirit of the Law, who was no factor on the turf last time out. Trainer David Fawkes saddles To Joey, a son of Win Win Win making his third start and entering off a victory against $12,500 maiden claimers.

Race 5: A field of seven take to the turf in this $25,000 maiden claiming event at five furlongs for 3-year-olds and up. Kingswearcrowns was fifth, beaten three lengths last out at this distance and surface for a $35,000 tag. Wheelhouse finished second at 5 ½ furlongs on Tapeta last out for leading trainer Saffie Joseph Jr., who hopes the 13th time is the charm for this son of Tapit.

Race 6: The In Summation has six 2-year-olds all entering off victories. Sum of Success, a $165,000 son of Win Win Win trained by Bobby Dibona, enters off a 7 ½ length debut victory and will likely be the favorite. Road to Midnight, a son of Roadster, broke his maiden in his second start by 6 ½ lengths on turf for trainer David Braddy. Boyhood Dream goes out for trainer Nolan Ramsey after winning his only start by a nose.

Race 7: This seven-furlong, maiden special weight event for fillies and mares drew a field of seven including first-time starters Forgotten About, a daughter of The Big Beast who makes her debut for trainer David Fawkes, and Kokomo Kitty, a daughter of Uncle Chuck from the Jose D’Angelo barn. Camber enters off a second-place finish in a $35,000 claimer in her debut for Tessore.

Race 8: The Rainbow 6 wraps with a $70,000 allowance optional claimer at 1 1/16 mile on the turf for fillies and mares. City Minute, 1-2-2 in five turf starts, enters after a sixth-place finish in the Powder Break for Joseph. Jimmy Toner saddles Defiant Lass, beaten only a neck last time out after 15-month layoff. Spicy Princess makes her second start off a five-month layoff for Patrick Biancone.
