Gulfstream Summer Sweep Includes Two from Horseshoe

HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – Get ready for another ‘Mandatory Monday’ and another chance to break the bank at Gulfstream Park.

Monday’s 20-cent Rainbow 6 jackpot pool is expected to grow to an estimated $400,000, where the popular multi-race wager went unsolved Sunday for the second racing day following last Monday’s mandatory payout that yielded multiple payoffs of $5,084.

The Rainbow 6 sequence will span Races 4-9 Monday.

Race 4 – Edwin Gonzalez returns aboard David Fawkes-trained Noble Pride following a vastly improved third-place finish. Ellis Parjk-based Mario Gutierrez, who rode at Gulfstream during the Championship Meet, will be aboard Michael Lerman-trained Marilyn’s Mate during his one-day stopover at the Hallandale Beach track.

Race 5 – Jena Antonucci-trained Looks to Kill, whose best running has been on Tapeta, drops down to new low in claiming price for this 5 ½-furlong sprint on the all weather track. Gerald Bennett-trained Duchess Eleanor, who finished second in her Tapeta debut two starts back, drops a couple rungs on the claiming ladder.

Race 6 – Joe Orseno-trained Elusive Chalice races with blinkers on for her second career start in this 5 ½-furlong maiden claimer on Tapeta after getting off to an awkward start in her debut. Gutierrez has the mount on the daughter of Bucchero. Steve Dwoskin-trained Starship Spectacle comes off back-to-back runner-up finishes on Tapeta.

Race 7 – David Braddy-trained Dilly Dally, who was a forward factor while racing three wide before faltering late in her debut, tries turf while dropping down for this five-furlong maiden claimer. Fawkes-trained Winning Defense moves to the turf following a pair of promising efforts on Tapeta to open her career. The Victor Barboza Jr.-trained duo of The Coromoto and Ignis Cor figures to be in the mix.

Race 8 – Orseno-trained Latch the Hatch, second in back-to-back starts following his maiden score, is reunited with Edwin Gonzalez, who was aboard for his graduation. Fawkes-trained Noble J. looks to double in open company after winning this condition against state-breds.

Race 9 – Francisco Abreu-trained Giant Teddy won going away at this optional claiming allowance level last time out. Barboza stablemates Sosua Summer and Sablan appear well-placed.

In the Rainbow 6, the jackpot pool is paid out only when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.

On mandatory payout days, the entire pool is disbursed to the bettor or bettors holding tickets with the most winners in the six-race sequence. A mandatory payout of the 20-cent Rainbow 6 jackpot pool will be offered Monday and every Monday through the end of the Royal Palm Meet that runs through Aug. 31.

Gulfstream Summer Sweep Includes Two from Horseshoe

Gulfstream’s Summer Sweep Pick 5 sequence begins Monday with Gulfstream’s Race 3 at approximately 1:18 ET and will include two races from Horseshow Indy. The sequence concludes with Race 7 at Gulfstream, a five-furlong event on the turf for maiden $35,000 3-year-olds and up.
