Leading Jockey Edgard Zayas Registers Friday Hat Trick

HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – Unsolved for the seventh consecutive racing day Friday, Gulfstream Park’s 20-cent Rainbow 6 jackpot pool will be estimated at $200,000 for Saturday’s 11-race program.

First race post time is 12:50 p.m.

The popular multi-race wager last produced multiple mandatory payouts of $206.30 Aug. 24. Another mandatory payout is scheduled for Sunday, when the pool is estimated to reach $1.25 million if not hit beforehand.

In the Rainbow 6, the jackpot pool is paid out only when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool. On mandatory payout days, the entire pool is disbursed to the bettor or bettors with the most winners in the popular wager’s six-race sequence.

Saturday’s Rainbow 6 spans kicks off in Race 6, a maiden special weight for Florida-bred 2-year-olds sprinting seven furlongs on the main track. The 8-5 program favorite is Micanopy, a half-brother to 2020 FSS Susan’s Girl and FSS My Dear Girl winner Princess Secret. Other Level looks to break through after two seconds and a third in four prior starts.

Seven fillies and mares 3 and up are set to line up in Race 8, a six-furlong maiden special weight led by 3-year-old Dominant Diva, unraced since a front-running debut winner at the course and distance Dec. 19. Among the competition are first-time starters Souffle On Fire, Lady Tiramisu and Gone a Lil West and Queen McKinzie, with three seconds and three thirds from nine prior tries.

The Race 9 feature is an optional claiming allowance for 3-year-olds and up scheduled for 1 1/16 miles on the grass that includes 5-year-old gelding Nate the Great, a winner of five of his last six starts and seven overall; last-out maiden winner Maruvy; Navy Cross, first or second in five straight races; and $211,990 earner Fredo.

Notes: Jockey Edgard Zayas registered a Friday hat trick aboard Mystical Belle ($2.80) in Race 3, Be Thankful ($4) in Race 7 and a resurgent Just a Philly ($20.80) in Race 8 … Miguel Vasquez doubled with Fly Life ($13.40) in Race 6 and Spy Novel ($7.20) in Race 9.
