Rainbow 6 Jackpot Pool Estimated at $625,000 Thursday

4/9/2025

HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – The 20-cent Rainbow 6 jackpot pool is expected to grow to an estimated $625,000 Thursday at Gulfstream Park, where the countdown for Sunday’s mandatory payout gets underway.

The popular multi-race wager went unsolved Sunday for the eighth consecutive racing day, leaving a big-money carryover of $455,070 heading into Thursday’s wagering. Should the Rainbow 6 continue to go unsolved Thursday, Friday and Saturday, the jackpot pool is likely to swell into the millions Sunday.

The Rainbow 6 sequence will span Races 4-9, featuring Brad Cox-trained Sweet Treasure’s bid for a third straight victory without defeat while making her 2025 debut in Race 7. The daughter of Twirling Candy is favored at 8-5 on the morning line for the mile-and-70-yard allowance for 3-year-old fillies on turf. She won at first asking at Horseshoe Indianapolis last August before scoring a front-running victory in a Churchill Downs allowance in November. Both victories were on turf. Carlos David-trained Miss Mary Nell, who is coming off a victory against Florida-breds at Thursday’s conditions, holds a considerable edge in experience over Sweet Treasure.

A 1 1/16-mile starter allowance for 3-year-olds and up on Tapeta follows in Race 8. Some bettors may consider ‘spreading’ due to a very well-balanced eight-horse field. Saffie Joseph Jr.-trained Mister Abarrio, the 5-2 morning-line favorite, has finished in the money in 20 of his 27 career starts, but has won only three.

The Rainbow 6 sequence will be closed out by a mile maiden special weight for 3-year-old fillies on turf in Race 9 that should also prove challenging for handicappers. Obeissante, a daughter of Into Mischief trained by Hall of Famer Todd Pletcher, will stretch out from five furlongs to a mile while making her second start. The 5-2 morning-line favorite in a field of 11 finished fifth, beaten a little over a length, after racing evenly in her Feb.15 debut. Obeissante will break from Post 1, one stall inside Joe Orseno-trained Love Actually, a daughter of Caravaggio who is rated second at 7-2 on the morning line. Love Actually has finished second twice and third one in three career starts. Riley Mott-trained Scarletta Carpetta, a daughter of Oscar Performance; Kenny McPeek-trained Caviar Breakfast, a daughter of Mendelsohn; and Joseph-trained Losecontrol, a daughter of Gun Runner; are slated to debut in the Rainbow 6 sequence finale.

The Rainbow 6 carryover pool is only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool usually goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool. On mandatory-payout days, the entire Rainbow 6 jackpot pool is paid out to the bettor or bettors with the most winners in the wager’s six-race sequence.
