Rainbow 6 Mandatory Payout Yields Multiple Payoffs

Herrera Continues to Beat Path to GP Winner’s Circle

HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – A mandatory payout of the 20-cent Rainbow 6 pool yielded multiple payoffs of $425.84 to bettors holding tickets with all six winners of Races 4-9 Sunday at Gulfstream Park.

There were 2,736 winning tickets.

The popular multi-race wager had gone unsolved for the eight racing days following a May 10 mandatory payout, leaving a jackpot pool carryover of $143,020.93 heading into Sunday’s mandatory payout. Sunday’s Rainbow 6 wagering totaled $1,278,011.

Tshiebwe ($12.80) in Race 4, Ball Up Top ($4.40) in Race 5, Captain Danny ($14.40) in Race 6, Happy Ride ($4.20) in Race 7, Flowko ($3) in Race 8, and Ghostlight ($4) in Race 9 produced the winning combination of 5-5-5-3-6-5.

In the Rainbow 6, the jackpot pool is only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool. On mandatory payout days, the entire pool is disbursed to the bettor or bettors holding tickets with the most winners in the six-race sequence.

The 20-cent Rainbow 6 will start anew when live racing at Gulfstream resumes Friday. The Rainbow 6 sequence will span Races 4-9, featuring a 5 ½-furlong optional claiming allowance on Tapeta in Race 6. Joe Orseno-trained Rezasrolex, a winner of 14 of 20 career starts, drops from an off-the-board finish in a Grade 2 stakes at Keeneland.

Herrera Continues to Beat Path to Gulfstream Winner’s Circle

Jockey Diego Herrera, who switched his tack from Santa Anita in March, continued to beat a path to the Gulfstream Park winner’s circle Sunday.

Herrera scored on his first three mounts on Sunday’s card, visiting the winner’s circle with Get the Win ($6.60) in Race 2, Giant Teddy ($3) in Race 3 and Ball Up Top ($4.40) in Race 5. The 22-year-old jockey came up a half-length short of a fourth victory while finishing a late-closing second aboard Steal Sunshine in Race 7 to complete his day.

Herrera, who rode three winners Friday and one Saturday, has 35 winners during the Royal Palm Meet, good for second behind Samy Camacho in the standings.

Jockey Edgard Zayas, a multiple riding-title winner at Gulfstream before switching his tack to New York in April, rode a pair of winners Sunday to complete his weekend visit, scoring back-to-back aboard Captain Danny ($14.40) in Race 6 and Happy Ride ($4.20) in Race 7
