Rezasrolex Looking to Stay on a Roll in Pay Any Price

Saturday’s Rainbow 6 Jackpot Pool Estimated at $75,000

HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – A winner of 14 of his 21 career starts, Robert Cotran’s Rezasrolex figures to be odds-on to add Sunday’s $70,000 Pay Any Prince Handicap at Gulfstream Park to his resume.

The 5-year-old gelded son of Bucchero, the 4-5 morning-line favorite in a field of seven older horses assembled for the five-furlong overnight handicap on turf, has won 11 of 14 on Tapeta and three of six races on turf.

“I know he keeps winning on Tapeta, but he’s a Bucchero. They run on anything; they run on dirt,” trainer Joe Orseno said. “Personally, he seems to come out of his turf races fresher than his Tapeta races. It doesn’t take as much out of him. Turf or Tapeta, I’m not concerned.”

Rezasrolex put together a nine-race winning streak in starter and allowance races between June 21, 2024 and Jan. 11, 2026. The impressive run began with seven straight victories on Gulfstream’s all-weather surface followed by a pair of optional claiming allowance wins on turf at Gulfstream and Tampa Bay Downs, where he finished second, beaten by a neck, in the Feb. 16 Turf Dash Stakes. He went on to finish second on Gulfstream’s turf in the Silks Run before finishing off-the-board while facing Grade 2 company in the April 4 Shakertown on turf at Keeneland.

“The race at Keeneland was his only disappointing race and he got beat four lengths. The turf came up soft that day, and that was the only surface he didn’t handle when it was soft at Keeneland,” Orseno said.

Rezasrolex returned to his winning ways while returning from a two-month freshening to capture a 5 ½-furlong optional claiming allowance by 4 ½ lengths on Tapeta at Gulfstream June 5.

Edwin Gonzalez has the return mount on Rezasrolex, who will carry highweight of 125 pounds, between three and nine pounds more than his six rivals.

Cotran’s Extendo has been assigned 122 pounds. The Orseno-trained 6-year-old son of Handsome Mike has finished first or second in 13 of 29 careers starts, his wins all coming on Tapeta or turf. Rezasrolex’s stablemate is winless in eight starts since winning a five-furlong allowance on turf at Gulfstreamlast year but has been usually close.

Samy Camacho has the call on Extendo, who is rated second at 4-1 on the morning line.

Michele and Lawrence Sargent’s Banded Rocket, who has won two of four starts since being claimed by trainer Carlos David, is third on the morning line at 9-2.

Winning Stables Inc.’s Rouki (8-1), Champion Equine LLC’s Esperon (10-1), In Front Racing Stables LLC’s If Not for Luck (12-1) and Nic’s Bro (15-1) round out the field.

Saturday’s Rainbow 6 Jackpot Pool Estimated at $75,000

The 20-cent Rainbow 6 jackpot pool is expected to grow to an estimated $75,000 Saturday at Gulfstream Park, where the popular multi-race wager went unsolved Friday on the first racing day following Sunday’s mandatory payout.

Saturday’s Rainbow 6 sequence will span Races 5-11, featuring the $100,000 Soldier’s Dancer Handicap in Race 9 and the $100,000 Smile Sprint in Race 10.

Patrick Biancone-trained Layabout, who captured the William L. McKnight (G2) during the Championship Meet, will return from a four-month layoff in the Soldier’s Dancer, a 1 1/16-mile handicap on turf for 3-year-olds and up. Layabout, the 125-pound highweight, is favored at 9-5 on the morning line.

Biancone will also be well-represented in the Smile, a six-furlong sprint for 3-year-olds and up, by Classic of Course, a stakes veteran who is rated second at 3-1 on the morning-line. Fausto Gutierrez-trained Rolando has been installed as the 2-1 morning-line favorite following his victory in the Big Drama Handicap last time out.

In the Rainbow 6, the jackpot pool is only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners while 30 percent is carried over .to the jackpot pool. On mandatory payout days, the entire pool is disbursed to the bettor or bettors holding tickets with the most winners in the six-race sequence.

NOTES: Jockey Samy Camacho moved into a tied with Diego Herrera, 62-62, in the Royal Palm Meet Jockey Standings with two winners on Friday’s card, on which he scored back-to-back on Back Em Up ($4.50) in Race 8 and Malcolm X ($5.80) in Race 9.
