HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – Robert Cotran’s Rezasrolex returned to his winning ways Friday at Gulfstream Park while scoring a decisive 4 ½-length victory in the Race 6 feature, a 5 ½-furlong optional claiming allowance for 3-year-olds and up on Tapeta.

The 5-year-old son of Bucchero notched his 14th victory in 21 career starts while coming off a two-month freshening since finishing off-the-board in the April 4 Shakertown (G2) on turf at Keeneland. The 1-to-5 favorite in a field of six went right to the lead under Edwin Gonzalez from his rail post position and set fractions of 22.50 and 45.00 seconds for the first quarter-mile and half-mile, pressed by second-choice Coppola before drawing clear through the stretch.

Rezasrolex ran 5 ½ furlongs in 1:02.95. Coppola held second, a half-length ahead of late-running Eamonn.

“I don’t know why, but I was nervous, but Coppola is very capable on his best day, and so is Eamonn,” said trainer Joe Orseno, who saddled Rezasrolex and Easmon for the Friday feature. “His last race was a tough race. We freshened him up here. You kind of think to yourself, ‘I didn’t do enough.’ But he’s a very good horse. I love the trip he got.”

Rezasrolex is likely to run next in the $300,000 Troy (G2), a five-furlong turf stakes, at Saratoga Aug. 9, Orseno said.

Saturday’s 20-Cent Rainbow 6 Sequence Features Three Stakes

The 20-cent Rainbow 6 will combine betting action with stakes action Saturday at Gulfstream Park, where the jackpot pool is expected to grow to an estimated $75,000 after going unsolved Friday for the first racing day following a mandatory payout.

Saturday’s Rainbow 6 sequence will span Races 6-11, featuring three $125,000 stakes – the Martha Washington, a 1 1/16-mile race on Tapeta for 3-year-old fillies, in Race 8; the Big Drama Handicap, a seven-furlong sprint for 3-year-olds and up, in Race 10; and the Not Surprising, a 1 1/16-mile stakes on Tapeta for 3-year-olds, in Race 11.

Keith Asmussen, a son of Hall of Fame trainer Steve Asmussen, ventures to Gulfstream from Churchill Downs to ride Patrick Biancone-trained Haute Diva in the Martha Washionton. Haute Diva, a stakes winner on dirt coming off a pair of off-the-board finishes in the Davona Dale (G2) and Gulfstream Park Oaks (G2), will make her first start on Tapeta. The daughter of Constitution has run on turf twice, resulting in a maiden victory and a photo finish second in an optional claiming allowance.

Biancone-trained Classic of Course brings a record of consistency into the Big Drama Handicap. The versatile 4-year-old son of Awesome of Course, who has earned more than $400,000, is coming off a runner-up finish in a 6 ½-furlong stakes, He will carry 121 pounds for the seven-furlong Big Drama, three fewer than co-highweights Concrete Glory and Chrome Ghost.

Michael Yates-trained Bolero Bay, a game front-running winner of the English Channel despite trouble last time out, will need to contend from the far outside No. 10 post to repeat in the Not Surprising.

In the Rainbow 6, the jackpot pool is only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool. On mandatory payout days, the entire pool is disbursed to the bettor or bettors holding tickets with the most winners in the six-race sequence.

The doors for Silks Simulcast Facility will open at 10 a.m. Saturday to accommodate watching and wagering on the Belmont Stakes program at Saratoga that gets underway at 11 a.m.
