HALLANDALE BEACH, FL — The 20-cent Rainbow 6 jackpot pool is expected to grow to an estimated $100,000 for Saturday’s 10-race program at Gulfstream Park, where the popular multi-race wager went unsolved Friday for the second racing day following Sunday’s mandatory payout.
Saturday’s Rainbow 6 sequence will span Races 5-10, co-headlined by the $100,000 Royal Palm Juvenile Fillies in Race 6 and the $100,000 Royal Palm Juvenile in Race 10, designated Royal Ascot qualifiers. The two five-furlong turf stakes for 2-year-olds will each offer a fees-paid berth in one of six juvenile stakes during the Royal Ascot meeting (June 17-21) and a $25,000 equine travel stipend.
Trainer Wesley Ward, who has built an imposing reputation for early success with juveniles, is represented by the morning-line favorite in both stakes.
The Royal Palm Juvenile Fillies drew a full field of 12 and two also-eligibles, including Ward-trained Satisfied Mind, a daughter of First Samurai who is coming off a sharp 3 1/4-length debut victory April 16 at Keeneland. Emisael Jaramillo has the call. Patrick Biancone-trained Lennilu is also coming off a debut score at Keeneland, where the daughter of Leinster rallied to graduate by a length. Luis Saez has the call.
Ward is represented in the Royal Palm Juvenile by Fuzzy Stare, a debuting homebred son of Hootenanny who has been breezing impressively at Keeneland. Jaramillo has the mount. Biancone appears well represented in the Royal Palm Juvenile by Squire, a late-rallying debut winner at Gulfstream April 18. Saez is named to ride the son of Leinster.
Trainer George Weaver, who swept both races in 2023 with Crimson Advocate in the Royal Palm Juvenile Fillies and No Nay Mets in the Royal Palm Juvenile, has entered Royal Testament in the filly division and Sandal’s Song in the open division. Both are first-time starters who have drawn the No. 1 post position in their respective races.. Crimson Advocate went on to make history by winning the G2 Queen Mary during the prestigious meet in Great Britain.
