HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – The 20-cent Rainbow 6 jackpot pool at Gulfstream Park is expected to grow to an estimated $150,000 Saturday after going unsolved for the fourth racing day following a mandatory payout on Friday’s Sunshine Meet opening day program.
Friday’s Rainbow 6 sequence will span Races 5-11, featuring 2025 FTBOA Florida Sire Stakes action in Races 8 and 10. Post time is 12:50 p.m.
The $100,000 Desert Vixen, a six-furlong stakes for 2-year-old fillies sired by accredited Florida stallions, kicks off FSS first-leg action in Race 8. Patrick Biancone-trained Lennilu, who won the $100,000 Royal Palm Juvenile Fillies at Gulfstream before finishing third in the Queen Mary (G2) at Royal Ascot, is the 8-5 morning-line favorite. The daughter of Leinster launched her career with a length victory over a sloppy main track at Keeneland.
The $100,000 Dr. Fager, six-furlong first-leg action for all 2-year-olds sired by accredited Florida stallions, will follow in Race 10. Biancone-trained Squire, a debut winner on dirt before finishing second in the $100,000 Royal Palm Juvenile on turf, is the 8-5 morning-line favorite.
The $70,000 Mambo Meister, a mile handicap for 3-year-olds and up on turf, has been positioned in between the FSS stakes in Race 9. A highly competitive field of 11 includes Jose D’Angelo-trained Dominican Pioneer, a former Wesley Ward trainee who ran in the Shoemaker Mile (G1) at Santa Anita last year, installed as the 3-1 morning-line favorite. Joe Orseno-trained And Uwish is rated second at 7-2 on the strength of a win in the Successful Native overnight handicap and a runner-up finish behind Reef Runner in the Warrior’s Pride overnight handicap last time out.
In the Rainbow 6, the carryover pool is only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.
The 2025 Sunshine Meet, which offers 36 racing dates through Nov. 23, will feature the $200,000 Princess Rooney (G3) as one of four stakes Sept. 20. The seven-furlong sprint for fillies and mares is a designated Breeders’ Cup ‘Win and You’re In’ race in which the winner will receive a fees-paid berth into the $1 million Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Sprint (G1). Last year’s Princess Rooney winner, Saffie Joseph Jr.-trained Soul of an Angel, went on to win the Filly & Mare Sprint and earn the Eclipse Award as champion female sprinter.
The 2025 FTBOA Florida Sire Stakes series for 2-year-olds sired by accredited Florida stallions will continue Oct. 18 with the $200,000 Affirmed and the $200,000 Susan’s Girl.
