Saturday’s Rainbow 6 Jackpot Pool Estimated at $100,000
HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – Green With MV Stable, Mathis Stable, Zilla Racing Stables and Rittdiculous Gazmanian Stable’s Senti La Voce, making his race debut, rallied past favored multiple stakes-placed Holy Warrior in mid-stretch for a dramatic neck victory in Friday’s opener at Gulfstream Park.
Ridden by Micah Husbands for Sunshine Meet leading trainer Saffie Joseph Jr., Senti La Voce – whose name means ‘hear the voice’ in Italian – covered six furlongs over a fast main track in 1:13.44 to win the maiden special weight for 2-year-olds.
“He fought really hard and he dug in really hard today,” Husbands said. “I think he needed this race and he’s only going to get better.”
Purchased by Joseph for $425,000 out of Fasig-Tipton’s Midlantic 2-year-olds in training sale in mid-May, Senti La Voce is by Speaker’s Corner, winner of the Fred Hooper (G3) and Gulfstream Park Mile (G2) in 2022 ahead of a victory that spring in the Carter Handicap (G1). Out of the Archarcharch mare Marvelous Spot, he is a half-brother to stakes winner Conducted.
Husbands sent Senti La Voce ($5.60) to the front from Post 5 where they ran the opening quarter-mile in 22.13 seconds pressed by Holy Warrior, who broke from outermost Post 8. Holy Warrior, by five-time Grade 1-winning millionaire Jackie’s Warrior, was dropping back into maiden company following a third to undefeated multiple stakes winner Sum of Success in the Sept. 5 Express Tour and a second in the Oct. 3 Palm Bay overnight handicap.
Holy Warrior swept to the lead on the far turn following a half-mile in 45.05 seconds but Senti La Voce, racing to his inside, was resolute once straightened for home and gave Husbands a late surge to get up in the final 50 yards. It was another four lengths back to Joseph-trained White Foot Willie in third.
“He broke good,” Husbands said. “I didn’t really ask him much from there. He kind of got a little bored up there by himself, and when the other horse come up I think I kind of did him a favor and kept him going straight. He was focused. He was just game today.”
Friday’s card featured three other races for juveniles, two claiming spots and an optional claiming allowance for 2-year-old fillies sprinting five furlongs in Race 4 that was moved to the all-weather Tapeta course. John C. Minchello’s Roadsterella ($5.60) rolled past pacesetting favorite Army Salute to register his second straight win, a two-length decision in 57.59 seconds.
Saturday’s Rainbow 6 Jackpot Pool Estimated at $100,000
The 20-cent Rainbow 6 jackpot pool is estimated to reach $100,000 for Saturday’s 10-race program at Gulfstream Park.
Post time is 12:20 p.m.
Unsolved for a fourth consecutive racing day following multiple $3,501.22 mandatory payouts Oct. 11, the Rainbow 6 will span Races 5-10 Saturday, highlighted by the $60,000 Mr. Jordan overnight handicap for 3-year-olds and up going a one-turn mile on the main track in Race 9.
Repole Stable, West Point Thoroughbreds, CJ Stables, Woodford Racing, Lane’s End and Patrick Magee’s Vibe is the 9-5 program favorite in the Mr. Jordan. A $3 million yearling, the 4-year-old Into Mischief colt returns to Gulfstream where he debuted in March 2025 and owns back-to-back victories at one mile. The biggest challenge may come from Robert Mooney and Jeff Siskin’s stakes winner Pure Class, who has placed in six consecutive races, three of them stakes, since being claimed by trainer David Fawkes.
In the Rainbow 6, the jackpot pool is paid out only when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.
Along with the Rainbow 6, Gulfstream will again partner with Santa Anita Park for the $1 Sunset Six and $1 Coast-to-Coast wagers. The Sunset Six starts with Races 8-10 at Gulfstream and ends with Races 7-9 from Santa Anita. The Coast-to-Coast opens with Gulfstream Race 9 and continues with Santa Anita Race 3, Gulfstream Race 10 and Santa Anita Races 4 and 5.
