Sister Troienne Makes it Five in a Row in Sweetest Chant

1/31/2026

Sunday’s Rainbow 6 Jackpot Pool Estimated at $450,000

HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – Woodslane Racing’s homebred Sister Troienne won her fifth consecutive race and third consecutive stakes race when she cruised away from nine others to win Saturday’s $175,000 Sweetest Chant by 2 ¾ lengths.

Trained by Brian Lynch and ridden by Mario Gutierrez, who earlier in the day teamed up to win the Kitten’s Joy, Sister Troienne covered the 1 1/16th mile course in 1:40.76. Lynch has now won seven stakes at Gulfstream’s Championship Meet, five with Gutierrez.

The 31st running of the Sweetest Chant was one of five stakes for 3-year-olds featured on Saturday’s 12-race program headlined by the $275,000 Holy Bull (G3), a key prep for the $1 million Curlin Florida Derby (G1) March 28 at Gulfstream.

A 3-year-old daughter of Munnings who came into the race off victories in the Ginger Brew and Wait A While, Sister Troienne rated off a :23.33 and :47.56 pace set by longshot Day to Day before cruising alongside that one approaching the turn and then drawing away from her competitors. Longshot Spicy Princess got up for the place while Brat Pack finished third.

“Very impressive and finished up in a strong time, too,” Lynch said. “When they turned down the backside she looked a winner every jump of the race. Honestly, I think she’s just getting better at racing. She’s got such a big, efficient stride, and when you ask her for run she just finds more. It will be interesting to see if she ever gets tested.”

Sister Troienne has won five of six starts. Her only blemish is a third-place finish in her debut on the main track at Ellis Park in August.

Sunday’s Rainbow 6 Jackpot Pool Estimated at $450,000

The 20-cent Rainbow 6 jackpot pool is expected to grow to an estimated $450,000 Sunday at Gulfstream Park, where the popular multi-race wager went unsolved for the fourth racing day following a mandatory payout on Pegasus World Cup Day.

The Rainbow 6 sequence will span Races 4-9, kicked off by a 1 1/16-mile optional claiming allowance for fillies and mares. Snowyte makes her 2026 debut after finishing second behind Eunomia in a Keeneland allowance at the distance. Snowyte returned to win a Tampa Bay Downs allowance after being transferred to trainer Saffie Joseph Jr. following a private purchase. Phillip Bauer-trained Clairita also makes her 2026 debut following a 12-length maiden score at Churchill Downs Nov. 21.

Race 5 brings together a well-matched field of nine 3-year-old fillies for a $17,000 maiden claimer at 5 ? furlongs on Tapeta. Kathleen O’Connell-trained Bella’s Breeze looms dangerous off close-up second-place finish that followed a rough start. Jose D’Angelo-trained Miss Candy Girl drops down following an even finish last time out. Collin Maragh-trained Bombs Away makes her debut off a sharp three-furlong ‘bullet’ workout.

Carlos David, who has a gaudy 34-percent strike rate off the claim, will saddle Perfect Chances, an $8,000 claim out of her most recent race, for a start in Race 6, a six-furlong $8,000 claimer for fillies and mares.

Nolan Ramsey-trained Park Surprise has been tabbed as the 8-5 morning-line favorite on the drop-down for Race 7, a $35,000 claimer for older horses going 1 1/16 miles on turf. Kevin Attard-trained King Rosse makes his 2026 debut while facing claiming company for the first time coming off solid form at Woodbine.

Patrick Biancone-trained Squire, who has faced stakes company in his last six starts, returns in Race 8, an entry-level allowance for Florida-bred 3-year-olds going 5 ? furlongs on Tapeta. Augustinian, who finished second on turf in an allowance last time out for Hall of Fame trainer Mark Casse, broke his maiden by six lengths on Tapeta in his previous start.

Mister Monocional figures to improve for his first start since breaking his maiden off a year-layoff and his first start off the claim by trainer Luis Ramirez in Race 9, a $17,500 claimer for older horses going a mile on turf.

Who’s Hot: Jockey Irad Ortiz Jr. rode four winners. Ortiz won Race 4 aboard Wall Street ($5), Race 6 on If Not for Luck ($2.80), the $175,000 Swale on Solitude Dude ($2.40), and the $175,000 Forward Gal with On Time Girl ($4.20),

Jockey Junior Alvarado was taken to Aventura Hospital in the afternoon for further evaluation when he was unseated during the running of the ninth race aboard Multiverse. Alvarado was walking but had a small cut on his head.
