Verity Continues Comeback in G2 Inside Information
1/23/2026Mandatory Rainbow 6 Payout Set for Pegasus Day Program Saturday’s Rainbow 6 Jackpot Pool Estimated to Reach $4M Pegasus World Cup Anchors All Graded-Stakes Sequence
HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – Two races before attempting to spring an upset in the $3 million Pegasus World Cup Invitational (G1) with Poster, trainer Eoin Harty will send out another Godolphin homebred, 4-year-old filly Verity, in Saturday’s $225,000 Inside Information (G2) presented by MyRacehorse at Gulfstream Park.
The 47th running of the Inside Information for older fillies and mares sprinting seven furlongs on the main track is the eighth of 10 stakes, seven graded, worth $5.675 million on a blockbuster 13-race program that begins at 11 a.m. ET
Verity and regular rider Vincent Cheminaud will break from outermost Post 12 in the Inside Information, named for the Ogden Mills Phipps homebred daughter of Private Account who was the 1995 champion older mare. The Hall of Famer won the first of her nine graded-stakes in the 1994 Bonnie Miss (G2) at Gulfstream, where she was a perfect 3-0.
A daughter and granddaughter of champions Nyquist and Bernardini, respectively, Verity is out of the Grade 2-placed mare Moiety, a stakes winner whom Harty also trained for Godolphin that had four wins and six seconds in 11 starts.
“I trained her mother, and her mother was very classy. Her mother was talented, also, but this is a better filly,” Harty said. “Great, great mind. She’s a beauty. Nothing rattles her.”
Verity has run first or second in five of six career starts, three of them wins, including the seven-furlong Beaumont (G2) in the Keeneland slop last April. She was injured next time out running fifth in the Eight Belles (G2) on the Kentucky Oaks (G1) undercard, launching her comeback with a runner-up finish in a six-furlong optional claiming allowance Nov. 27, her first try against older horses where she was beaten two lengths.
“She’s a very nice filly. She’s never run a bad race,” Harty said. “She came out of the [Eight Belles] with a condylar fracture, which would explain the break. I ran her back and she ran a huge race in her comeback race. This is her second start back. Very, very classy mare.”
Verity is rated at 12-1 on the morning line. The narrow 4-1 program favorite in a wide-open field is Parkland Thoroughbreds, Sportsmen Stable and Avanti Stable’s millionaire Jody’s Pride. Beaten a neck when second in the 2023 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1), the daughter of Triple Crown champion American Pharoah returns to the dirt after back-to-back turf starts to cap 2025. Her lone win last year came in the one-mile Ruffian (G2) at Aqueduct.
Trainer Saffie Joseph Jr. entered the trio of Indy Bay (9-2), Claret Beret (12-1) and Dazzling Move (20-1). Charles Town Oaks (G2) winner Indy Bay has not raced since being eased in the Sept. 20 Cotillion (G1) at Parx. Chicago (G2) runner-up Claret Beret was most recently third in Gulfstream’s one-mile Rampart Dec. 26. Dazzling Move won last winter’s Royal Delta (G3) at Gulfstream and has placed in three other graded-stakes including the 2025 Ogden Phipps (G1).
Sterling Silver and Necessity, respectively first and second in the Rampart; 2024 Chillingworth (G3) winner One Magic Philly; Grade 2-placed Patricia Ann; stakes winner Her Laugh; Royal Delta runner-up Grand Job; and Beyond Belief complete the field.
Mandatory Rainbow 6 Payout Set for Pegasus Day Program
A mandatory payout of a 20-cent Rainbow 6 jackpot pool that is expected to grow to an estimated $4 million will be held on Pegasus World Cup Day at Gulfstream Park, where Saturday’s spectacular 13-race program will get underway at 11 a.m.
The $3 million Pegasus World Cup Invitational (G1) will anchor an all-graded-stakes sequence that will span Races 8-13. Brad Cox-trained Disco Time, undefeated in five career starts, has been installed as the 8-5 morning-line favorite in a full field assembled for the 10th anniversary of the 1 1/8-mile feature. Disco Time, who will be ridden by newly named 2025 Eclipse Award winner Flavien Prat, will be joined in the starting gate by Cox stablemate Tappan Street, who recently returned from a long layoff following his 2025 Curlin Florida Derby (G1) victory to capture a Gulfstream optional claiming allowance. Saffie Joseph Jr.-trained White Abarrio is entered to defend his 2025 Pegasus World Cup triumph, along with Joseph stablemate Skippylongstocking, the recent Harlan’s Holiday (G3) victor who will make his fourth Pegasus appearance. (Note: Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert scratched Madaket Road Friday making room in the starting gate for Jose Castro-trained Lightning Tones.)
The Rainbow 6 sequence will be kicked off in Race 8 by the $175,000 Fred W. Hooper (G3), a one-turn mile stakes for older horses featuring the highly anticipated meeting between Knightsbridge (6-5ML) and Life and Times (8-5ML). Hall of Famer trainer Bill Mott, newly named 2025 Eclipse Award winner, will saddle Knightsbridge, a son of Nyquist who is coming off a 4 ¾-length romp in the Mr. Prospector (G3). Fellow Hall of Famer Todd Pletcher has saddled Life and Times, a son of Triple Crown champion Justify, for a pair of dominating victories to open his career.
The $225,000 William L. McKnight (G3), a 1 ½-mile turf stakes that drew a full field of older horses, could prove to be a popular ‘spread’ leg in Race 9. Ohana Honor, a son of Honor Code trained by Hall of Famer Shug McGaughey, is a mild 5-2 morning-line favorite who is coming off a victory in the Knickerbocker at Aqueduct under a returning Prat. Jockey Oisin Murphy, who has been a Gulfstream visitor during the flat-racing offseason the past few years, has the mount on Joseph-trained Divin Propos. Miguel Clement-trained Summer Cause enters the McKnight off a two-length victory in the recent two-mile H. Allen Jerkens at Gulfstream.
The $500,000 Pegasus World Cup Filly & Mare Turf Invitational (G2), a 1 1/16-miles turf stakes that will bring together 12 top-class fillies and mares (plus two also-eligibles) will challenge Rainbow 6 bettors in Race 10. Chad Brown-trained Whiskey Decision is a lukewarm 9-2 morning-line favorite in what appears to be a well balanced field. Murphy is named to ride Clement-trained Breath Away, a multiple graded-stakes winner who finished a solid fourth in the Matriarch (G1) at Del Mar last time out. Jospeh-trained In Our Time, runner-up in the Matriarch last out, and Kevin Attard-trained Caitlinhergrtness, a multiple graded-stakes-winning millionaire, are also prominent entrants.
Another highly competitive full field awaits Rainbow 6 bettors in Race 11, the $225,000 Inside Information (G2), a seven-furlong sprint for fillies and mares. Jorge Abreau-trained Jody’s Pride, the Ruffian (G2) winner at Saratoga last spring, is the 4-1 mild favorite for her 2026 debut. Sterling Silver made her first start for trainer Anthony Margotta Jr. a winning one with a two-length score in the mile Rampart last time out. Necessity, the Rampart runner-up, and Her Laugh, who returns from a fifth in the Dec. 28 Le Brea (G1) at Santa Anita, will represent trainer Riley Mott.
Brown-trained Program Trading, the multiple Grade 1-stakes-winning 5-2 morning-line favorite, will make a bid to complete a comeback in the $1 million Pegasus World Cup Turf Invitational (G1) in Race 12. Trainer Graham Motion will be represented by Test Score, beaten just a half-length in the Hollywood Derby (G1) last time out, and One Stripe, a multiple Grade 1 winner in South Africa who was an impressive optional claiming allowance winner at Gulfstream last time out. McGaughey is scheduled to saddle Cugino, who came up just a half-length short against Wolfie’s Dynaghost while finishing second in the Ft. Lauderdale (G2), and Arlington Million (G1) winner Fort Washington.
In the Rainbow 6, the jackpot pool is only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool. On mandatory payout days, the entire pool is disbursed to the bettor or bettors holding tickets with the most winners in the six-race sequence.
Who’s Hot: Irad Ortiz Jr., who won four races in a row Thursday, rode a pair of winners on Friday’s program, scoring aboard Mo Hijinx ($7) in Race 6 and She Be Smooth ($11.20) in Race 8. Hall of Famer John Velazquez doubled aboard Vazhi ($10.80) in Race 1 and Three C’s Kai ($6.80) in Race 9.
