Mother’s Day at Gulfstream: Just 20-Cents Could Win Mom a Million

May 11, 2019
Sunday’s Rainbow 6 Carryover Tops $1 Million
Royal Squeeze Wins $100,000 Big Drama

HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – Gulfstream Park will celebrate Mother’s Day with a special Mother’s Day Brunch in Ten Palms Restaurant and a 20-cent Rainbow 6 carryover of $1,013,327.17.

For the 24th consecutive racing day, there was no single winning ticket Saturday in the Rainbow 6. Multiple tickets with six winners returned $2,571.88.

Sunday’s Rainbow 6 sequence begins with the sixth race, a maiden special weight event for fillies and mares going five furlongs on the turf. Four of the six races are scheduled on the turf.

First race post time is 1:15 p.m.

There will also be a Super Hi 5 carryover of $3,333.46.

The carryover jackpot is only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.

Royal Squeeze Wins $100,000 Big Drama

Royal Squeeze, claimed in February for $25,000 by Imaginary Stables and Glenn Ellis, held off a late rally by Florida Sire Stakes winner Garter and Tie to win Saturday’s $100,000 Big Drama.
A 7-year-old son of Wildcat Heir trained by Elizabeth Dobles and ridden by Jairo Rendon, Royal Squeeze covered seven furlongs in 1:22.33 for his ninth career and seventh at Gulfstream.
Breaking from the rail in the 10-horse field, Rendon rated Royal Squeeze fourth while Sarasota County and Kroy went an opening quarter mile in :45.04. Midway around the turn, however, Rendon drove Royal Squeeze to the front between the two pacesetters and drove down the stretch to victory.

Royal Squeeze returned $8. Graded-stakes winner Mr. Jordan checked in third.
