450k Guaranteed Pool in Rainbow 6 Kicks Off with 75k Mr. Steele

Jul 16, 2021
Features Graded Winner Caribou Club, Appleton (G3) Runner-up Renaisance Frolic
Debut Wins for Stone Beauty, Fulminate

– Gulfstream Park’s 20-cent Rainbow 6 will have a guaranteed pool Saturday of $450,000.

The Rainbow 6 begins with Race 7, the $75,000 Mr. Steele for 3-year-olds and up at 1 1/16 mile on the turf. Renaisance Frolic, second this winter in the Appleton (G3) and third last out off a short layoff, is the tepid 5-2 favorite and one of three entered for leading trainer Saffie Joseph Jr. with Max K.O. (4-1), Noble Indy (8-1). Others entered include Vow Me Now (3-1) and graded stakes-winner Caribou Club (9-2).

The sequence will include three turf races and a maiden special weight at five furlongs for 2-year-old Florida-breds.

The Rainbow 6 carryover jackpot is paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.
