$100,000 Guaranteed Pool in Sunday’s Rainbow 6

– Grade 1 winner Decorated Invader made his 3-year-old debut an impressive one Saturday at Gulfstream Park when he drove down the stretch to win the $100,000 Cutler Bay by 1 ¼ lengths on Florida Derby Day at Gulfstream Park.

A son of Declaration of War trained by Christophe Clement and ridden by Joel Rosario, Decorated Invader was making his first start since finishing fourth in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf (G1) Nov. 1 at Santa Anita Park. He had previously won the Summer Stakes (G1) in September at Woodbine.

Decorated Invader covered a firm mile course in 1:33.12. Decorated Invader returned $5.60.

Rosario rated Decorated Invader well off a :22.53 and :45.59 pace set by longshot Inter Miami. Around the final turn Rosario moved Decorated Invader outside and drove six-wide entering the stretch before taking over inside the final eighth.

“He’s a big horse. Christophe told me to give him a clean trip,” Rosario said. “So when I started moving a little bit I preferred to be in the clear on the outside. He came with a nice run. He was the best horse in the race.”

Highland Glory Wins the Sanibel Island

Steadfast Stable’s Highland Glory, trained by Barclay Tagg, drove past the pacesetter Cheermeister in the final strides to win the $100,000 Sanibel Island.

Highland Glory, a 3-year-old daughter of Sky Mesa ridden by Paco Lopez, covered the mile course in 1:34.42 and returned $9.80.

Lopez rated Highland Glory sixth down the backstretch while Cheermeister went the opening quarter in :23.46, the half in :47.35 and three-quarters in 1:10.70. Moving three-wide entering the stretch, Highland Glory drove past a game and stubborn Cheermeister just a few yards in front of the finish line for a neck victory.
